TRADEMA®K exhibition visiting Plovdiv
The Petko Churchuliev Art Gallery – Dimitrovgrad is presenting a special exhibition TRADEMA®K at the Society of Plovdiv Artists.
The exhibition TRADEMA®K (1960–1990) will present a collection of selected trademarks, emblems and company inscriptions, commercial and production brands, created from the beginning of the 1960s to the end of the 1990s mainly for the region of Haskovo and Dimitrovgrad. This is the time of general rise of Bulgarian applied graphics after 1960, in the era of analogue graphic art.
The presented artists are iconic names of Bulgarian applied graphics, who have created artistic production for the local industry and institutions on various occasions and for the purposes of cultural and many other events. Without claiming to be exhaustive, the collection represents a focus on a creative period for Bulgarian graphic design from the recent past. The exhibition emphasises high aesthetic criteria, the artists themselves and, last but not least, their achievements in the field of trademark – the flagship of every identity.
In its first stage, the project was implemented in 2022, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Petko Churchuliev Art Gallery in Dimitrovgrad, jointly with the Department of Poster and Visual Communication at the National Academy of Art, Sofia.
The exhibition in Plovdiv will be accompanied with a curatorial tour and lecture (24 April, 5:00 pm) by the curator of the project Assoc. Prof. Nenko Atanasov, PhD, teacher from the National Academy of Art, and with a workshop (25 April, 10:00 am) led by his doctoral student Georgi Georgiev – Arshata, native of Plovdiv.
The project is implemented with the support of the Municipality of Plovdiv and is part of the Calendar of Cultural Events for 2025.
