Opening of exhibition "Page by Page..." – 127 years of Library Collection of the National Academy of Art in Atelier Gallery at the National Academy of Art – Burgas Branch

The exhibition "Page by Page ..." – 127 Years of Library Collection of the National Academy of Art was opened on 16 November 2023 in Atelier Gallery at the Burgas Branch of the National Academy of Art, Magazia 1, Burgas Port Complex. It was attended by students and teachers from the National Academy of Art – Sofia and its Burgas Branch. The exposition was presented by the exhibition curators – Dr. Milena Balcheva-Bozhkova, project manager, Assoc. Prof. Nenko Atanasov PhD, exhibition layout and design, and Assoc. Prof. Dimo Kolibarov, Director of the Burgas Branch of the National Academy of Art.

The exhibition focuses on the creation of a specialised library collection and its building over time. This is still an under-studied process, which however represents an essential part of the Academy's history. The exhibiting of preserved archival documents, photographs, and rare pubications on fine arts is not just a step back in time, it is the curators' attempt to clarify a number of unknowns. Significant stages and aspects are presented – the creation of a library collection in 1896, then its organising as a modern scientific library and enrichment over the years, its contribution to the establishment of the Academy of Art as one of the first cultural and educational centres after the Liberation of Bulgaria and the first half of the 20th century.
