International Year of the Ring Finger exhibition in the Museum of Humor and Satire – Gabrovo
International Year of the Ring Finger
Running period: 30 November 2023 – 29 February 2024
Museum of Humor and Satire, Hall 7, Gabrovo
Opening: 30 November, 5:30 pm
The exhibition „International Year of the Ring Finger“ presents original solutions on the topic by 34 students from the Poster and Visual Communication major at the National Academy of Arts, Sofia and Burgas branches. The comical posters find their place not just anywhere, but namely in the Museum of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo.
The theme of the exhibition looks at the ring finger and its unfair neglect over the years. Provoked by this, their teacher Prof. Georgi Yankov decided to put his students to the test, challenging them to solve this "problem". Alumni of the National Academy of Arts created 34 satirical posters, giving new names to this forgotten finger. In their concepts, they seek a modern and unencumbered interpretation of the "sore topic", proving the importance of the nameless digit (the ring finger is called "nameless" in Bulgarian).
The new names can be divided into three categories – practical, comical and original.
And what would you name the nameless ring finger?
