Exhibition “Book And Typeface” April 7 – 13, 2022. Interdisciplinary scientific forum “Book and Typeface. Tradition and Modernity”, April 8 and 9, 2022
The first of its kind in Bulgaria, the interdisciplinary scientific forum “Book and Typeface. Tradition and Modernity” will take place in Sofia on 8 and 9 April 2022 in the New Conference Hall of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.The forum was opened by Prof. Dr. Andrey Boyadzhiev. The conference discussed a number of topics related to the development of the book in historical terms, the relationship of traditions with contemporary book art, as well as the specific problems of font design in its various applications, as an integral part of creating modern editions as an adequate tool for publishing scientific papers in the field of humanities. The multi-layered active discussions that took place after each panel of the forum proved the relevance of the topics discussed and confirmed the real and timely need for it.
The exhibition “Book And Typeface” opened on April 7, which is part of the conference and will last until April 13, Hall 1C, Union of Bulgarian Artist, Floor 1, 6 Shipka Street, Sofia. The exhibition was opened by Dr. Anton Staykov, Deputy Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Artis, Prof. Dr. Kristina Borisova (National Academy of Art) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasil Zagorov (The University of Library Studies and Information Technologies), all of them from the organizing committee of the Conference. The exhibition focuses on current trends in the development of Bulgarian books and typefaces, presenting works by young authors from both fields, who graduated from the National Academy of Art, majoring in "Book, Illustration, Printed Graphics" and "Poster and Visual Communication".
