Exhibition poster 80 years Prof. Dimitar Tasev

30 October - 12 November 2017
Opening 30 October (Monday), 06:00 pm
Academia Gallery, 1 Shipka Street
The exhibition is realized on the idea of the Poster and Visual Communication Department and is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the author as well as the 70th anniversary of the specialty "Poster and Visual Communication" at the National Academy of Art.
The exhibits are authentic theatrical posters (serigraphy) from the Museum collection of the National Academy of Art and an archive of the author.
Dimitar Tasev ranks among the few authors of the artistic theatrical poster since the mid-1960s of the last century. His achievements are fundamental to the progress of the genre and with his original graphic stylistics and color, he affirms a different significance in poster art.
The brevity in his works is an individual expression and a vibrant environment that reveals their thematic impact. It concentrates the conceptual nature of the message perceived by the author as supreme meaning. This nature is the basis of his personal quests and encodes the emotion and the specific impulse, crowned in an abundance of original findings.
The characteristic also applies for his other long-term calling - the teaching activity in the Art Academy. Deprived of the solemn notes of academic expression, Professor Tasev's lectures are filled with the spirit of wise revelation, skillfully entangled in the didactic synthesis of folk proverbs and folklore tales. The typical verbal color has long been recognized as an emblem and folklore among his students.
Having influenced the artistic values of the poster in the second half of the last century and having laid this foundation among his alumni, Prof. Dimitar Tasev still remains today a bright example of authenticity and admiration in the modern visual environment.
